To reduce the number of car crashes and save lives the NHTSA is proposing its first V2V rule for light weight vehicles

The NHTSA released last week an advance notice of proposed rulemaking on Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) Communications supported by a comprehensive research report entitled Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communications: Readiness of V2V Technology for Application. According to the report V2V technology such as left turn assist and intersection movment assist could save more than 1000 lives and prevent approximately 600,000 vehicle accidents every year in the US.
