A 22 year old motorcyclist suffered severe personal injury after he was struck by a car while trying to take care of his disabled bike on the Henry Hudson Parkway in the southbound middle lane at West 70th Street. The driver remained at the scene while the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Less than 12 hours later, 24 year old David Duran was heading West on 73rd Avenue near the Clearview Expressway when the driver of a Mazda tried to make a U turn and fatally struck the young motorcyclist.

Five people were sent to the hospital and a 24 year old motorcyclist died in a car crash involving several vehicles near the intersection of Rockaway and Brookville in Queens, NYC. The motorcyclist was riding his bike on Rocakaway Blvd when it broke down. Several people met him and helped him load the bike on a pick up truck. As they were doing so a Chevy van hit the back of the pick up truck and struck them. Another car then hit the Chevy van. The motorcyclist died at the scene and five other people suffered personal injury and were rushed to the hospital.

A 24 year old biker was killed in a motorcycle accident in New York City. According to witnesses the man was driving his bike at a reckless speed when he hit the back of a van on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx. The motorcyclist suffered severe personal injury and was pronounced dead upon his arrival to the hospital. The occupants of the van, a couple and a seven year old child, only suffered minor injuries.

25 people died in vehicle accidents last May in NYC. Among them were 9 pedestrians, 2 cyclists, 3 vehicle passengers and 11 motorists.This is the highest number of people killed during the length of a month on New York City roads since the beginning of the year. Last April 21 people died in vehicle accidents and during the same month a year earlier, 15 people were killed in traffic accidents.
When looking at the numbers since the beginning of the year, the total number of people killed on the road in the city since the beginning of the year is 97 compared to 99 for the same period of 2013.

The number of pedestrian deaths was 9 during the month of May compared to 8 last April and 6 in May 2013. Since the beginning of the year 48 pedestrians lost their life in a traffic accident compared to 61 for the first 5 months of 2014, a decrease of 21%.

The number of cyclist deaths in May 2014 was stable at 2 compared to May 2013 and higher than last April, a month during which one cyclist died. The total number of cyclists who died in a traffic accident since the beginning of 2014 is 5 compared to 3 for the first five months of 2013.

31 year old Arben Hoti was driving his bike from Brooklyn to Manhattan on the Williamsburg Bridge last night when he lost the control of his bike and struck a pillar. Hoti was thrown from the motorcycle and was found lying on the outer roadway of the bridge, officials said. He died at the scene.

An accident between a truck and a dirt bike lead to the death of the motorcycle operator yesterday in East Harlem. 28 year old Shamel Jefferson was riding on an unregistered and uninsured dirt bike in the left lane on third Ave when a truck cut in front of him and struck him causing his death.

A biker was injured after he was hit by a police car on the corner of Farmers Blvd and 120th Street. in St Albans, Queens. The police car had its lights and sirens on and was rushing to a report of a robbery. They apparently went through a red light when the accident happened.

Two men in their 20s riding on a bike were seriously injured after they were hit by a car in Astoria, Queens on Tuesday night around 7:00 am. Then early Wednesday around 5:00 am, a motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Union Turnpike and Woodhaven Blvd in Queens. The 31 year old man operating the motorcycle was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The passenger, a 20 year old woman, as well as the car driver, a 26 year old man also suffered personal injury but were in stable condition.

As the spring is coming in New York, motorcycle enthusiasts are back on the road. Unfortunately this also means that motorcycle accidents are on the rise in the city. Last year in May there were 250 motorcycle accidents in the city during the month of May compared to 216 in April and 82 in February.

A motorcyclist died and two pedestrians suffered serious personal injury in a motorcycle accident in the Bronx, NYC. The motorcyclist whose dirt bike was unregistered and uninsured lost control of his bike as he was trying to speed around a car while making a left turn. The man was thrown off the bike which kept moving running into an 85 year old woman and a 55 year old man standing at a corner of the intersection.
