The first accident occurred on the Upper East Side at 2:00 am. A 29 year old pedestrian suffered severe head trauma after being hit by a car. According to the NY Daily News, the pedestrian was crossing First Avenue at the intersection of 82nd Street against the red light. He was hit by a vehicle that was crossing the intersection with the green light. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital to be treated.
Two hours later, around 4:00 am a pedestrian was killed in a Queens crash. The 71 year old victim was attempting to cross the Belt Parkway near Farmers Blvd in Springfield Gardens when he was hit by a car. The man was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Less than an hour later between 4:30 and 5:00 am, also in Queens, a 22 year old driver intentionally drove into a group of pedestrians before speeding away, killing one and injuring 5. The accident occurred in front of the XS NYC Lounge, a Hooka bar in Ozone Park, Queens. The driver was arguing with two other men over a parking space. Suddenly he took out a knife and stabbed the two men he was arguing with. Then, he got in his car and drove at high speed onto the sidewalk, intentionally plowing into the group of pedestrians standing in front of the lounge. Among them was 23 year old Richardo Chattergoon, one of the men who was just stabbed. Richardo was killed in the crash and 5 other were injured including one critically. All the victims were transported to the hospital with head trauma and broken legs. As the victims were being interviewed by NYPD detectives, the driver showed up at the hospital with cut-up hands. He was recognized by one of his victims and immediately apprehended by the police. He was identified as 22 year old Adrian Harry from Far Rockaway. Harry who never had problems with the police in the past is now facing a murder charge and multiple counts of assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
A few hours later, around 8:00 am, a 31 year old pedestrian walking on the West Side Highway was fatally hit by a truck near w. 107th Street. The man was walking North on the southbound lane when the truck stuck him. He died at the scene of the accident. The truck driver stayed at the scene of the crash and wasn’t arrested.
