The firm also would like to congratulate NY personal Injury Lawyers Christopher Donadio and Rachel Jacobs for their selection as Rising Stars for the New York Metro area.
Over the last 12 years, no other personal injury law firm in New York City had that many attorneys selected by Super Lawyers. 7 of our senior partners have been nominated for 12 consecutive years. All our attorneys have extensive experience in the field of personal injury law. They have honed their skills and developed expertise in Construction Accidents, Auto Accidents, Medical Malpractice, Product Liability and other areas of personal injury litigation. The firm has gained a national reputation as “counsel to the profession”.
Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigman & Mackauf was founded in 1919. Since then it has has developed a reputation for aggressive and thorough case preparation and become one of the top personal injury law firms in New York City. Many of the cases handled by the firm are referred by other attorneys or former clients. The firm focuses on catastrophic injury cases and only takes a limited amount of cases every year in order to maintain the highest standards of quality and service.
Recently, our firm also represented Lissy McMahon, a single mother who discovered that doctors misdiagnosed her cancer after the statute of limitations had passed. Our firm and Lissy fought together to help pass Lavern’s Law which will move the starting date of the statute of limitations to the date of the discovery of the misdiagnosis instead of the date when the medical error was committed for cancer patients. Unfortunately Lissy passed away before the law was passed. The firm also successfully represented the family of Marylin Dershowitz, a retired Manhattan Supreme Court special referee who died in a bicycle accident as well as the family of comedian Joan Rivers who died from medical malpractice. Other court victories include a $27,500,000 verdict obtained in New York Supreme Court for a woman who lost her leg after being struck by a bus. This was the largest award in New York Sate history for this type of injury.
